How do I join?
You already have: every public FFA lobby on openfront.io is rated, and you get a class after 5 rated games. Find yourself with the search box. An account only puts your name to your player.

FAQ
How is my rating worked out?
Each lobby counts as you against every other human in it. The winner comes first, then everyone by performance. Your rating moves by how many opponents you finished ahead of, compared with how many your rating said you would. Everyone starts at 1000, and early games move it the most. What decides my position in a game?
The winner is first. Everyone else is ordered by performance: land 40%, conquests 20%, nukes 20%, human kills 10%, gold 10%, each taken as a rank within the lobby.
What are the classes, and why am I “provisional”?
Classes are rating bands, from Novice up to OF Super GM. You get one, and a place on the leaderboard, after 5 rated games. Until then the rating moves too much to mean anything, so it reads “provisional”.
What are the arrows on the leaderboard?
Places gained (▲) or lost (▼) since the start of yesterday (00:00 UTC). The starting point moves on once a day, so between times a number changes only when somebody's place does. “new” means the player was not on the leaderboard then: they have reached 5 rated games since.
Why does a game say “not rated” or “pending”?
Not rated: you never spawned, or the game record has no stats for you. Pending: the game reached us out of order, and it is rated the next time the ratings are replayed.
What is a scalp?
A game you won with a strong player in the lobby: someone rated Expert or higher (2000+) going into that game, with at least 5 rated games behind them. It is judged by their rating at the time, so a scalp never changes afterwards.
What are Cups and Form?
Cups count your 1st, 2nd and 3rd places over all your games. Form is what your last 20 games did to your rating, added up.
What is Lobby Elo?
The average rating the rated players brought into a game. “Toughest lobbies” ranks the 50 highest, counting lobbies with at least 10 rated players.
Which games are listed under Games?
Bangers are the last 24 hours’ lobbies with the most players rated 2000+ (at least 3). “Worth a look” has a top-10 player in the lobby, or two and more of the top 50; the number by a name is that player’s rank today. Signed in, the ☆ saves a game.
What does The Climb show?
The real top 20 at checkpoints 4 hours apart. Today’s top 20 are in colour; anyone who was up there and has dropped out since is grey. The table counts the checkpoints each player spent at #1, in the top 5 and in the top 10.
What does Compare count?
The numbers from both players’ pages, their Elo over their latest 150 rated games, and the lobbies they were both in, with who finished ahead.
I change my name a lot. Which one is shown?
The one you have played under most (the latest of those, when two are level). You are one player whatever you call yourself: your page lists your other names, and a game’s own page says which one you used there. Once you have claimed your player you can choose the name yourself, on your page; you get 2 changes.
Can I stay out of the ratings?
Yes. Games played under a name containing _0_ are not rated and not shown.
What does the ✓ by a name mean?
The owner of that player proved it, by playing a game under a code the site gave them.
